At Cardinia Shire Council, community engagement is at the heart of every playground project. Their commitment to inclusivity and meeting the community’s desires is exemplified in the recent Pakenham playground development.

Before initiating any tender process, the Council took the proactive step of consulting with the local community to gather their valuable input. Through this open dialogue, they identified a range of elements that the residents wished to see in the new playground:

  • A dedicated area for toddlers, ensuring that even the littlest ones have a safe and enjoyable space to play.
  • The inclusion of a basket or gyro swing provides a thrilling experience for kids of all ages.
  • A large climbing net encourages children to embrace their adventurous spirit and conquer new heights.
  • Separated spaces for older and younger kids, ensuring that each age group can have age-appropriate play experiences.
  • The ever-popular monkey bars are a classic element that kids love to challenge themselves on.
  • A seated spinner, adds an element of excitement and group play to the design.

With these invaluable insights from the community, the Council compiled various designs and presented them online, inviting residents to cast their votes for their favourite proposal. After careful consideration and a show of overwhelming support, the winning design was chosen – and we were the fortunate winners!

We are humbled and delighted to have been selected to bring this dream playground to life. Our team were thrilled to work on a project that is the direct result of community collaboration. We are committed to creating a vibrant, safe, and engaging space that will bring joy and cherished memories to the Pakenham community for years to come.
